Their roots go back to before World War II when they had over nine shops in and around the Leicester area. As JK Wilkinson was away fighting in the war his wife gave birth to their son who later became chairman of the group and also had a sister born not long after in 1940

They decided a change was needed in 1941 and after much deliberation decided to change the name to Wilkinson and focus more on DIY.

Since then the product range has grown, changed and expanded to keep up with the times but the core values have remained the same.
