The idea to start the Christopher Ward company was first born in 2004 on a boat on the River Thames by three friends Chris Ward, Peter Ellis and Mike France.
They wanted to create a company which made excellent quality Swiss made watches which gave the wearer immense pleasure from wearing such a fine watch.
The friends somehow discovered that the Swiss watch making industry made an enormous mark-up on each watch sold, thus creating an opportunity in the market place for a company selling excellent Swiss made watches at a fraction of the usual cost, the three friends coined the phrase “the cheapest most expensive watches in the world."
As you may have guessed the watchmaker among the three was Chris; Pete and Mike brought the business know-how having previously owned the educational store chain The Early Learning Centre.

Back in 2005 after one year of developing and designing their own brand of watches the new company was able to introduce their first two watches, the C3 Malvern Chronograph and C5 Malvern Automatic via the company’s website to an amazing reaction from worldwide watch forums who simply could not believe that such fine quality watches could be produced and sold at these prices. Due to the buzz which surrounded these two new watches Dave Malone, a very influential blogger on the subject of watches bought a Malvern Automatic with the intention of exposing Christopher Ward watches, but was pleasantly surprised when he discovered the watch more than lived up to its hype and as such wrote a fantastic piece praising the watch which was better than any viral marketing campaign they could have dreamed of as the blog was picked up worldwide and thus the Christopher Ward phenomena had begun. Now the company boasts sales in over 70 countries!
