Travel companies - make or break

If you’ve been affected by the recent troubles in the travel industry then I really do feel for you; I can’t imagine how disappointed I would be if my holiday was cancelled last minute due to a company going into administration - and sadly as the summer season ends the outcome is looking even more bleak for other travel operators too.

If you have a holiday booked soon, then it is highly likely that everything will be fine. However, if you haven’t and are a little worried about booking with a flight or package holiday company then it may be wise to look at some alternative options for getting to your destination; so here’s some ideas and as usual some money saving offers.

P&O Ferries: Dover to Calais starting from as little as £2 for foot passengers
Who needs a flight when you can get to France in an hour and a half for as little as £2? This amazing voucher code deal from P&O is valid until the 29th of September. There are also Mini Cruises to Holland, Belgium and Spain starting from as little as £69, as well as FREE tickets to Disneyland when you buy a P&O Ferry crossing from Dover to Calais.

Opodo: Save 10% on short breaks by Eurostar
Opodo currently has a voucher code available to give customers 10% off destinations such as Reims, Lille, Paris, Brussels and Bruges. The offer includes three nights' stay in a hotel, as well as other goodies and must be booked by the 30th of August for travel up to the 31st of December 2010.

National Express: Under a fiver fares available on over 100,000 seats across Britain!
If you would rather not go abroad and want to follow the ‘staycation’ trend, then be sure to take a look at National Express, as there are some really cheap fares right across the country. They are currently offering 100,000 seats nationwide for under £5 which is a great saving given how expensive rail fares can be.

Butlins - Save 40% plus an extra £40 on selected breaks
A Butlins holiday is perfect if you have young children and want a holiday that doesn’t break the bank. A holiday can set you back as little as £89pp and includes a great choice of accommodation, plus a waterworld, funfair and a gorgeous sandy beach.

DFDS – Kids Go Free plus 30% off Mini Cruises
For those within easy reach of the North East, a DFDS cruise may be a little more appealing than one with P&O with sailings from Dover - not only can you save 30% on a cruise to Amsterdam, but they also have a special promotion where kids go for free.
