Now, you may be wondering why one of Her Majesty's secret agents would need to save money, given that we're all so fabulously rich and handsome... don't get me wrong: we're all devilishly handsome, and the spy business is of course better than minimum wage, but it doesn't exactly allow for the sort of lifestyle that an MI6 operative can become accustomed to. Let's put it this way: tomorrow, I'll be driving an Aston Martin DBS V12 to a dinner party being thrown by a very bad man. I'll be accompanied by a beautiful - and, unbelievably, single, operative whose name I cannot divulge. Once this operation is complete, however, and I'm back in London, things will be all together different; swap the Aston Martin for a Ford Fiesta, the gorgeous operative for my flatulent flatmate, and the virtually unlimited expense account for my maxed out credit card, and I'm sure you can see why I love serving my country. At least they let me keep the suits.
So this is where my love of saving money started: scouring hundreds of the UK’s retailers every day to hunt down the latest promotional codes, discounts, free delivery offers, free gifts, special offers, competitions, giveaways and anything else to help save me a bit of cash. Not to blow my own trumpet too much, but I am the King of thrift; just show me a car booty, auction or sale and I go to work. But since there are usually no limits to the amount of people who can benefit from these discounts, and with me being born to serve my Queen and country, it seemed only fair to share them.
How to use these discount codes, promotional codes, voucher codes and discount vouchers
Well firstly, all of the above are in fact pretty much the same, it’s just different terminology. If one of the offers promoted gives you a specific code, you simply click to reveal the code - then just copy the code and when you’re at the retailer checkout page, paste it into the relevant box - usually labelled with something like "Enter Promotional Code" or "Submit Voucher Code". You can get savings of up to 70% so it’s well worth the effort. Alternatively if you’re shopping and you come across one of these ‘Enter Code’ boxes be sure to check Money Saving Spy before completing your purchase; as long as it’s not something really obscure the chances are you’ll find it here.
How to use this website
Money Saving Spy has been kept simple to allow users to find exactly what they’re looking for without having to trawl through a lot of unnecessary info. You’ll notice there are two search boxes on our site. The first is for users who know the retailer they're looking for a discount for; simply click in the ‘Jump To Retailer’ search box and a drop-down of all the retailers will appear, which you can scroll through to locate the retailer you’re after.
The second search box is a more generic one, so you can use it to search for discounts on certain products, for example ‘Wine’, ‘Jumpers’, ‘Furniture’ or even specific brands, such as ‘Canon’. There’s also the Retailer A-Z page which is a full list of every retailer and every voucher on the site on one easy to read page.
Alternatively, if you have time to spare you can browse the site; we’ve split vouchers by category, most popular, most recent, free delivery and expiring soon. The retailer page lists the retailers alphabetically and next to each you’ll notice the number of vouchers codes/discounts, products and reviews. So you'll know without clicking whether there are any special offers or discounts. There’s also information on delivery charges, return policies and store cards for most retailers.
